2012 Northwest Short Course Nationals

This past weekend in Pasco, WA saw the gathering of short-course racers to do battle at the 3rd Annual Northwest Short Course Nationals. This year’s race saw just over 180 entries, making it the largest turnout in the brief history of this event. The weather was a major factor as winds blew up to 20 mph for most of the event, along with a brief rain delay as mother nature was making things difficult for everyone. The TCRC crew provided an excellent layout and a top-notch facility along with plenty of hard-working club members to make this event run flawlessly.

Qualifying was extremely competitive for each class, but Team Associated vehicles were looking dominant. In 2WD Modified SC it was AE/Reedy/LRP team driver Michael Schoettler taking the overall TQ. Fellow teammate Jack Leighan TQ’d 1/8 SC, privateer Nick Buechler took TQ honors in the Spec SC class, while Mike Hudson narrowly missed out on getting the TQ in 4x4 SC by .256 seconds after the best two of three rounds.

Come main time it was all about domination by Team Associated drivers in attendance. Michael Schoettler took wins in the first two mains of 2WD Mod SC to take the overall championship. Michael’s truck was hooked up and in a league of its own. AE vehicles took five of the top seven spots in this class as well. Mike Hudson drove a flawless A1 in 4x4 SC to win by 4 seconds. In A2 it was extremely close as the top four drivers had a shot at winning with two laps to go, but Hudson once again was victorious to take the overall championship. Backing up the overall titles was Jack Leighan winning the 1/8 SC class and Nick Buechler taking home the Spec SC title.

A special thank to the TCRC crew for an awesome track and race. This is definitely the biggest SC race in the Northwest and the following years will only be bigger.
