The Reedy International Off-Road Race of Champions is one of the most prestigious events in all of RC racing. Featuring both an Invitational class along with 2WD, 4WD Open, and Junior classes, there are four titles up for grabs. Competing in his first electric race for Team Associated and Reedy, Australia’s Kyle McBride made the 20-hour trip from Down Under to SoCal to race in the ultra-competitive open classes along with other Team Associated racers from around the United States.

From the start of controlled practice it was clear that McBride, along with his B44.3 and B5M, were there to compete. In the 4WD Open category, Kyle used his smooth driving style to set the fastest time in three of the four rounds, securing the TQ position. Joining him in the 4WD Open main event for Team Associated were Rob Gillespie Jr. (3rd), Cole Tollard (4th), Kobe Yonker (6th), and Alex Kosciuszek (10th). Winning the two A Mains by a combined 16 seconds, McBride showed the world that he’s not just a formidable gas racer.

Also taking a victory for Team Associated/Reedy was 15-year-old Daimon Borkowicz in the Junior final. This is Daimon’s third straight Junior final championship, and after an early retirement from teammate Cole Tollard, Diamon had little competition for the title.

Thanks to all of you who participated and made the Reedy Race a special weekend. We look forward to 2016, and with Kyle McBride now qualified for the Invitational class, the talent pool gets even deeper.
