Jefferies Repeats Sweep at BRCA 1/12 Nationals Round 2

Round 2 of the 2014/15 BRCA 1/12 Scale Nationals took place at Swifts Raceway near Sheffield last weekend. A very challenging track layout greeted the drivers and would prove to be unforgiving even for the top drivers.

Reedy factory driver Olly Jefferies remains in commanding form and once again qualified on the pole position for Saturday’s 10.5 Stock main event. Former World Champion David Spashett, along with podium regulars Chris Kerswell and Mark Stiles, hoped to make things difficult for Olly but a challenge never materialized. Olly led wire to wire to for his second straight win.

In the 13.5 class, Keith Robertson topped qualifying, driving his Reedy-powered 12R5.2. Unlike Olly, Keith faced a strong challenge in the form of round one winner Leigh Dibble. But Keith withstood the challenge and after a mistake by Leigh, cruised to the win.

Olly Jefferies was once again dominant and comfortably took TQ in Sunday’s Open Modified competition. Kerswell, Spashett, and Stiles once hoped to prevent a repeat of Saturday’s 10.5 result. At first it seemed possible, with Jefferies losing the lead in the early stages. But within a lap of losing the lead, he had regained it and when all was said and done, Olly lapped the entire field on his way to the win.

The series now heads to Tamworth for Round 3 where Olly looks to extend his commanding lead in the championship and move one step closer to adding more BRCA championships to his resume.

Special thanks to the Swifts club officials and members who helped to organize and run the event as well as everyone who assisted with track setup up and teardown.
